It's December!! I hope you all had a nice break filled with laughs and good food. I missed the kids and spent my holiday talking about them to my family. :) I was happy to see the students were excited about coming back. I have so many fun things in store for the kids in the next 3 weeks including:
I am WAY behind with pictures so here they are. We enjoyed Thanksgiving and learned about the Pilgrims and Native Americans. The students learned how to make an apple turkey.
- learning about Christmas and other holidays around the world
- letter Gg & gingerbread
- day and night sky
- 2D and 3D shapes in our world

High Point hosted our very first MaTh DaY on November 21st. The students had an opportunity to visit every kindergarten classroom. Parents and teachers worked together to turn every classroom into a place. The students visited a pizza parlor, grocery story, post office, bank, concession stand, and ice cream parlor. The students enjoyed hands-0n and real life math throughout the entire day! And yes, they got to make their own ice cream- so FUN
We're currently exploring 2d and 3d shapes. We learned that shapes are all around us. Students need to be able to recognize a circle, square, rectangle, triangle, rhombus, and hexagon. Students also must be familiar with number of sides and vertices on each shape. I've been challenging the students to learn shapes with up to 10 sides. They really love this shape song on Youtube! Check it out. Below you will see pictures of the students creating shapes using marshmallows and pretzels.
