There is a lot of learning going on! Check out some of our pictures below!
Editing work
In writing, students are learning how to read, highlight, and edit their work. Students worked with a partner to identify the spaces between their words with a highlighter. This allowed the students to see whether they used a big enough space.
Rocks and Soil
We learned about rocks and soil and how they are important to our earth. Students brought in their own rocks from home to share with one another and compare. Students looked at attributes such as: texture, size, color, and shape.
Pause to reflect.
During reading groups, students are practicing to reflect on their reading. Here we used sticky notes on pages throughout the story. When the students reach a note, they stop to reflect on what they just read. This is a great activity to do at home to help improve comprehension!
I am shorter than an emperor penguin!
We began our new unit on measurement this week. Since we are learning about penguins, I thought it would be fun if the students measured how tall they were next to an emperor penguin! Emperor penguins can reach up to 48-51 inches tall. The students loved this activity!
